re: New Member Guide
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE RED DRAGONS
The Red Dragons have a long history on Medivh, going as far back as start up, and even farther back to the game Earth and Beyond. Most of our original members came from Earth and Beyond when that game shut down. It was Gadgetx who convinced us to give this new game called World of Warcraft a shot. Rascal was our founding guild leader and is our guild leader today.
At one time we used to be the largest guild on the server, more by accident than design, but with the introduction of smaller raid instances, we have seen our numbers decline. Gone are the days when guilds needed to be huge in order to run the 40-man raids like Molten Core and Blackwing Lair. There are now almost as many guilds as players on the server, and to some extent we have gotten lost in the shuffle, but we are still here and active.
BECOMING A MEMBER
To become a member you must first apply through our web site. There is a link you can click on in the Membership panel to the left. The guild leadership will review your application and contact you, either through in-game tell or mail, if you have been accepted or rejected. We normally decide in 2-3 days if an applicant is right for us. Admittedly, sometimes we get lazy and don't get back to an applicant right away. If you have not heard from us in over a week, please contact one of our officers. You can also send an in-game mail to Rascal or Rasina (Rascal's alt).
RANKS
Dragon Lord: guild leader
High Councilor: officer
Councilor: officer
Fallen Dragon: members who have sadly passed on
Member: a member's main character
Alt: a member's alternate character
Recruit: new member
New members are automatically started at the rank of Recruit. Returning members, at the discretion of the guild leadership, may be restored to the rank they were at when they left the game and/or guild. A Recruit is not considered a full member and has limited access to the guild vault.
New members are required to remain at the rank of Recruit for two weeks, possibly longer, until they have proven themselves worthy of becoming a full member.
The rank of Alt is reserved for members' secondary characters. Typically, a member's main character is their raiding character. Under our loot council system, main characters have priority for loot over alternate characters.
Officers sometimes forget to promote people from Recruit to Member. If you have been a Recruit for a month or more, and you feel there is nothing that should hold you back from becoming a full member, please speak to an officer.
Only the Dragon Lord can promote a member to Councilor or High Councilor.
The rank of Fallen Dragon has been reserved for special members.
OFFICERS
If you have questions, or need an item out of the vault, feel free to contact one of our officers. Below is a list of our officers in alphabetical order. (A few of their alts are in parentheses.)
Cervinedeath
Dawnchaser (Stormchaser)
Gypped (Gyp, Palsgrave)
Manroot (Centrist, Deadroot, Helladin)
Rascal (Panzar, Parzifal, Quixote, Rascalla, Rasilla, Rasina, Rasus, Wolfric)
Samchase (Massmrdr, Richelieu)
Shinho (Ohme)
Zej (Zellia)
GUILD VAULT
Only guild officers have unrestricted access to the vaults. However, members of the rank of Member or above do have access to the top two vault tabs, Glyphs and Enhancements. Members may withdraw freely from these tabs up to the limit assigned to their rank without asking for permission from an officer. However, we ask that you use good judgment and not withdraw more than you need.
Members of any rank may deposit items in the vault. Again, we ask that you use good judgment and not deposit any items that are unlikely to be used. There is limited space in the vault and it tends to fill up quickly with unwanted junk. Typically, items from the Old World and Outlands are no longer in demand. If you are undecided if an item you would like to deposit is needed or not, please ask an officer.
Understand that unwanted items may be sold by the officers and the proceeds deposited back into the vault.
RAIDING
We typically raid on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays beginning at 8:00 PM. We have cleared the 10-man versions of Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum, and Eye of Eternity, and are currently progressing through 10-man Ulduar. We run 25-man Naxxramas pugs on Sunday and typically clear that place in 3-4 hours. We plan to start 25-man Ulduar pugs very soon.
We use Teamspeak as our primary voice chat when doing all-guild raids, and Ventrilo when running pugs.
If you have any questions about our raiding, contact our raid leaders, Zej or Shinho.
